Gary can’t ‘Putt well’ saved by Big Fish

THE Bert Brown Knockout trophy final will see Gavin ‘Big Fish’ Sole and Gary Purtell take on Matthew brothers Derrik and Bruce.

Gavin and Gary edged out Bob Thomas and John Fox on the 19th last Thursday, but it needed a streak of five threes from the 10th from Gavin to keep them in the game.

This after Bob started like a charging bull, with three birdies. Gary didn’t help matters with a four-putt on the 18th after hitting the green in two. Drama all round!

“My focus was dissipated as we were looking for Gavin’s lost ball,” he chirped.

With treatment on the greens taking place last week, the regular Wednesday comp took place on Thursday instead.

Women’s winners on 91 points were Lee Mutch, Sharon Turnbull-Jackson, Jan Germs and Felicity Robertson, by five from Candida Amm, Margie Sherratt, Shelly Myers and Irene Schanda.

Men’s winners were Gordon Moody, Kerry Fielden, Joe Carolan and Rob Meydell on 103 points.

Four adrift were Norman Farrell, Don Osbourn, John Neaves and Rob Williams.

The men’s comp was won by Rob Meydell, Malcolm Moorley, Tony Holness and a ‘ghost’ on 96 points.
