Islamic School athletes show skill

The boys played exceptionally well and placed first in the open division relay.

ISLAMIC School’s girls displayed their athletic prowess at the AMS Provincial Athletics in Durban last Saturday. Hameedah Rawat (open) came first in the 800 and 200m events and second in the 100m and Aisha Bhengu (U17) came first in 100m. Fathima Mahenza (U17) came third in shotput and Sanaa Goder (U13) came second. The open and U17 divisions placed second in the relay. The girls’ log position was third out of seven schools.

Ridwaan Bux (open) placed first in shotput and Imraan Desai (U17) proved his long distance grit by placing first in the 400m event and second in 800m. Muhammad Desai (U17) came first in shotput, second in 400m and third in long jump. Muhammed Suhail Shaik (open) placed second in 100m and shotput and third in 200m and long jump. Imraan Moola (U11) came second in long jump and 80m. Zaakir Raja (U15) placed second in long jump, Umar Farouk Rangila (open) came third in 400 and 800m and Muhammed Dhudat (U17) placed third in high jump. The boys won the open division relay. Coaches Sooraya Hanief and Zuber Khan commended the athletes for their sportsmanship.
