Zamo smashes record at Izotsha Primary

Leopard house won with the top score, Jaguar came second and Panther, who also won the spirit trophy, came third.

IZOTSHA Primary’s intermediate and senior phase athletics days were held last Tuesday and Friday. Congratulations to Kai Hielckert who broke the boys’ U12 800m record and Zamo Nyawose who broke the girls’ U13 long jump record, which had stood for 20 years.

At the track event finals last Friday, Leopard house won with the top score, Jaguar came second and Panther, who also won the spirit trophy, came third. Zack Lawrence and Melissa Bense (U10), Byron Winrow and Chelsea Rieder (U11), Lwazi Ngcobo and Megan Adams (U12), Thean Prinsloo and Zamo Nyawose (U13) and Byronne Rolfe and Layne Newell (U14) were age group winners.

The cross-country team took part in the recent interschool event at Creston College and a number of pupils improved their positions.

Foundation phase pupils hosted a successful ‘Grandparents’ Day’ and entertained with various speech and drama items and parents were treated to a speech and drama evening last Thursday.
