Schools’ volleyball trophy shared … by three teams

A record number of teams entered the final tournament.

ALTHOUGH the weather did not play its part and the rain came in torrents, the final schools volleyball tournament at Marburg Sports Complex proved a success with a record number of teams entering.

The primary school’s section was hotly contested, with perennial powerhouses Jai Hind, RA Engar, Marburg Primary and Griffendore fighting for top honours.

The volleyball courts were jam-packed, as players and supporters enjoyed a day of thrilling action. The excitement and enthusiasm were noticeable among volleyballers as the long and much-awaited tournament ‘spiked’ off in grand style.

In a first for a schools volleyball tournament, three schools finished as overall winners.

RA Engar, Jai Hind and Griffendore each won a division and ended up with the same number of points to share the overall prize.

Unfortunately the high school section had to be cancelled due to inclement weather and unsafe playing conditions.
