Volleyballers show exceptional skill

Many local pupils did extremely well.

A VOLLEYBALL top schools selection was held recently, when 25 top players were selected to represent Ugu in the following divisions, U17 boys and girls and U15 boys and girls. The teams consisted of 17 pupils from Port Shepstone Secondary, seven from Marburg Secondary and one from Port Shepstone High.

From among 12 districts and an estimated 288 players, Neo Macuphe in the U17 girls’ division, Kyle Pillay and Suhil Surajew in the U15 boys’ division and Kyle Maharaj, Kelden Ramkelawon and Nicholas Hansen in the U17 boys’ division were selected as some of the top 20 players for their exceptional set of skills.

A further selection process was carried out, in which Kyle Pillay from the U15 boys’ division emerged triumphant and earned his position in the KZN team for 2016.

It is indeed an accolade for teachers Charmaine Joseph and Josephine Naridu, who motivated and trained these players. Thanks to Ivan Govender, Ajesh Bugwandeen, Sushilla Kistasamy, Josephine Naridu, Jason Govender (KZN technical officer) and Devi Govender (KZN technical officer) for accompanying the players to Durban.
