From the fairways: Justin and Caitlin clean up

There was some great scoring on local golf courses over the weekend.

Pillays clinch Rotary Day

JUSTIN and Caitlin Pillay won the Rotary Shelly Beach golf day at Port Shepstone Country Club last Saturday on 49 points.

Runners-up were Callie van Loggerenberg and Harold Olkers on 47 points, counting out Sbu Ntozakhe and Koko Zithumane.

Wednesday’s comp was won by Rudi Visagie on nett 74, by one from Rob Calder and Paul Geoffery, who both had nett 75.

 

Thys and Ian win Maritzburg College day

ELSIE Pretorius and Rina Rito won the women’s comp, which was played last Wednesday, on 44 points. In second place were Evelyn Burls and Agnes Spielmann on 38 points.

Only a few brave seniors braved the weather for the Wobblers game. It was won by Louie Kuhn, Derek Egerton and Rob McGill on 71 points.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater was won by Eddie Pyle, Frank Merrill and Dave Parsons on 64 points.

Thursday’s comp saw professional Andrew Curlewis card 39 points, so first place was awarded to Jim Finn on 38 points.

Second prize became a lucky draw and was won by Mike Bond. (Thanks Andrew).

Saturday’s Maritzburg College day was won by Thys Blom and Ian Stewart on 50 points, followed by Mike Bond and Michael Downs on 48 points.

There was a tie for third on 46 points shared by Steven Herbst and Lee Maree, as well as Edwin Steyn and Patrick Mavundla.

The monthly mixed fourball alliance was won by Wayne Minnaar, Joan Minnaar, Graeme Massam, and Maureen Ogilvie on 92 points.

Runners-up were Rolf Spielmann, Agnes Spielmann, Gordon Ross and Debbie Ross on 87 points.

 

Team Doré bag business day victory

THE Pharaoh Construction business day at Southbroom Golf Club last Friday was won on 99 points by Terry Doré, Andrew Doré, Brandon Saunders and Robert Mavundla.

In second place on 96 points were Titch and Jeanette Peyios, Vusi Maphumulo and Sandy Luus.

Saturday’s alliance was won on 95 points by Malcolm Moorley, Coert Brits, Emil Hierhold and Roger Phillips, followed one point behind by Chris Huber, Heiner Spoerri, Hans Kok and Richard Bridgeford.

In the women’s section, first place on 87 points went to Alexandra Huber, Ursula Spoerri, Gjertrud Kok and Janet Humphrey, on a count out from Ruth Mosburger, Shelley Myers, Shirley Jeffery and Michelle Davies.

The Par Three contest last Sunday saw 50 golfers enjoy the special nine holes set up by Derek James.

Richard Derman and Ian Rynners both returned 20 points, with Cleve Walker, Tony Westoby and Don Osbourn all managing 19 points.
