South Coast handlers go camping

Unfortunately the contact agility event had to be cancelled because of unsafe conditions.

SOUTH Coast Dogs’ handlers recently travelled to Richmond for a weekend of fun, games, partying and a dog show. This is the ‘agility people’ and their dogs’ idea of a perfect weekend.

Saturday started bright and early, with handlers and dogs arriving at the Richmond Country Club to erect tents, get dogs walked and sorted before the fun could begin.

At the end of the day, dogs were given priority by being fed and settled for the night before the braais got going and the humans had some fun ‘people’ time. This turned into rather a late night all round.

Nevertheless, handlers got up early on the Sunday to sort out their trusty dogs and prepare for the German shepherd open show. Unfortunately the weather turned foul, which resulted in the contact agility being cancelled. Many thanks to Deanna Hewer (agility) and Mike Eisler (dog jumping) for judging.

South Coast dog handlers (from left) Elsie Pretorius, Lindsay Dunsmore, Barbara Egan and Gail Taylor entered the recent dog show held at the Richmond Country Club.
