Hlanganani dominates schools’ volleyball

Marburg Sports Complex was abuzz with schools' volleyball last Saturday.

HLANGANANI Preparatory School put on one of the most dominant displays in primary schools’ volleyball at the second schools’ volleyball knockout, at the Marburg Sports Complex last Saturday.

The school clinched the boys’ U14, girls’ U14 and girls’ U12 divisions, while Griffendore won the boys’ U12 section.

Perennial powerhouse and regular favourites, RA Engar, Marburg Primary and Jai Hind were not able to take any of the divisions in one of the biggest upsets in local schools’ volleyball.

The managers, coaches and players from Hlanganani must be commended for their outstanding improvement and they will certainly not be taken lightly in future tournaments.

In the high school section, Marburg Secondary reached three of the four finals on offer, but were unable to take any of the titles.

The boys’ U16 final saw Marburg Secondary come up against Port Shepstone Secondary, who dominated the game and went on to win by two sets to nil.

In the boys’ O16 section, Kwafica continued its dominance as it beat Marburg Secondary. Margate Middle School was awarded the girls’ U16 section. Unfortunately only Port Shepstone Secondary entered the girls’ O16 section and was unable to play any games.

Port Shepstone Secondary went on to win the composite high schools’ trophy.
