Youngsters take wickets

Four U13 cricketers from Izotsha made a good showing at the DPHS U13 National Cricket Festival.

FOUR boys from Izotsha Primary, Anthony Dunford, Ross Klusener, Chad Laycock and Chase Britz, were chosen for the KZN Cricket Union Development team to take part in the DPHS U13 National Cricket Festival last weekend.

They played two 50-over matches, against Lynnwood Primary in Pretoria and King Edward VII Preparatory School in Gauteng and, although the team lost both matches, Chad Laycock performed well with the ball taking five wickets against KEPS on the Friday.

On the Saturday, they played in an exciting Big Bash Cricket Competition, an eight over per innings format. Ross Klusener made 30 runs retired against Northlands Primary, hitting four sixes and a four. They

came close to beating Grey Bloem in their last match (under floodlights), needing just four runs off the last ball, with Ross

Klusener and Chad Laycock unbeaten at the crease.

Anthony Dunford took six wickets during the tournament. Anthony and Chad are actually U11.
