HIBBERDENE

THE mixed nominated trips played last Friday was won by Keith Mills, Gloria Gerrard and Paul Grutter. Second prize went to Eddie Milne, John and Judy Hoyer.

Session prize went to Malky McManus, Judy Aiston and Isobel McManus. Thanks to the sponsor Hibberdene Pharmacy.

The next competition is this Friday, January 17 at 2pm. It is mixed drawn trips.

Please spare a thought for Kathy Blackwell, she is in hospital.

MARGATE BC

WINNERS of the Margate Panelbeaters’ men’s 2-4-2 played on January 3 were Trevor Heywood and Tony Simmonds on 4+17.

Runners-up were Dieter Scholz and John Sutton on 4+9.

First session went to Roy Middleton and Anton Roussouw on 2+11, with second session going to Cedric Glanfield and John Richards on 2+12.

Winners of the ‘Free Drinks Tabs-In Sets’ last Saturday were Bob Smith, Ron Canning, Anne Hattingh and Maureen Roach.

Winners of the Halfway Toyota open trips played last Friday were Tys and Marthie Pringle, with Annette Coomer.

Runners-up were Len Sprong, Anne Hattingh and Jessica Henderson.

Session prize went to Kobie Stander, Dora Vosloo and Helen Proctor.

Good bowling to all those taking part in the inaugural ‘MBC Challenge’ to be held at the club this weekend.

A green will be available for tabs in on these days.

The next sponsored tournaments are the Manaba Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 to be played this Friday, January 17, in the morning, and the Mooirivier Brokers’ open 2-4-2 to be played on January 20 at 1.30pm.

The next quiz evening will be held at the clubhouse on Wednesday, January 22 at 6.30pm, with the usual fish and chip supper. Family and friends are welcome to join in the fun.

THE men’s pairs competition, sponsored by 7th Heaven Restaurant, was won by Dave Hume and Leigh Warner.

Runners-up were Aubrey Hood and Dice Graaf.

Second session winners were Barry Turner and Sergio Ruperto. The board was won by Leigh Warner.

The club is hosting a Burns Nicht on Friday, January 24 at 5.30pm.

The cost is R50 per head. All welcome.

Scottish fare will be served. Dress Scottish, if possible.

NOMADS LSC

THE first game of the new season took place at Margate Bowling Club last Sunday, with 38 players.

First prize went to Annette Payne, Yvonne James and Corrie Malan, with second prize to Tony Bailey, Dawn Oehley and Mari Rigers.

Third place was taken by Betty Bolton, Neville Philpott and Tom Doubell.

The sportsman’s prize went to Ina Malan, Myra Doubell and Graham Filmer.

Nearest the jack was Ria Botha.

Natalie Herbert won the whisky draw, which she donated to hospice.

The Highland Fryer lucky draw went to Lenie Geyer and Ann Bailey.

The venue for the February 16 game will be Riverside Sports Club at 8.30am for 9am start, followed by a bring and braai.

PORT EDWARD

THE recent Cheyenne Spur open trips was won by Jokkie and Marianne van Buuren, with Estelle Carter.

Runners-up were Derrick Ott, Dice Graaf and Denise Ralfe.

Session prize went to Irene Filmer, with Sergio and Pat Ruperto.

The Dr Theunis Potgieter mixed trips was won by Gawie Bosman, Denise Ralfe and Mike Carter, followed by Graham and Anjie Gold, with Leone Bloem.

Session prize went to George Snyman, with Tommy and Myra Doubell.

PORT SHEPSTONE

THE club was graced by a stunning group of women who entered the South Coast Herald women’s fours last week.

The winners were Dora Vosloo, Kobie Stander, Marthie Pringle and Winnie Hess.

Runners-up were Felicity van Rensburg, Sharolyn Darcy, Julie Cornwall and Annette Scott. Winner of the 50/50 board was Anne Payn.

FRIDAY’s twilight social bowls evening saw Ron Weddell win the lucky draw and Joan Muir the accumulator prize.

The next social evening will take place on Friday, January 24 at 6.30 pm.

The next sponsored competitions will be Airprof Engineering men’s trips which will now be played in the afternoon on Wednesday, January 22 at 2pm.

The Fruit and Veg mixed 2-4-2 is on Friday, January 31.

WINNERS of the Serene Care mixed trips were Mike King, with Richard and Kitty Cochman.

Runners-up were Geoff Kelleher, Jane Massam and Cosmos Gumede.

Third place went to Sharolyn Darcy, Steve O’Moore and Peter Ford.

The Fruit & Veg City in-house 2-4-2 was won by Brian Marriott and Jane Massam with Artur Lopes and Tammy Gibbons the runners-up. Session prize went to Tom Semple and Cheg Chegwidden.

The Dr Darryl D’Arcy men’s trips were won by Renzo van Niekerk, Hew Hodgson and Tony Olivant with Steve Doran, Barrie Queen and Tony Aveyard the runners-up.

Session prize went to Bez Bezuidenhout, Bruce Hoyer and Arthur Seager. Brian Marriott won the Christmas cake raffle.

The Harbour View SuperSpar women’s trips were won by Felicity van Rensburg, Margaret Randall and Sheenagh Dempster with Marie Coetzer, Barbara Gradwell and Anne Payne the runners-up.

Session prize went to Sharolyn Darcy, Annette Scott and Julie Cornwall.

The Christmas hamper raffle was won by John Wallis and the bottle of whisky was won by Bez Bezuidenhout.

The South Coast Herald mixed 2-4-2 is being played this morning (Thursday) and the Apex Electrical mixed trips this Sunday (January 19) in the afternoon.

The Dr Darryl D’Arcy men’s trips is on Thursday, January 23.

WINNERS of the Captain’s Anchor mixed fours were Duncan and Margie Randall, Stan and Joan Sackett.

Runners-up were Louw Vermeulen, Maureen Muller, Keith Harcombe and Michelle Vermeulen. Third were Renzo van Niekerk, Hew Hodgson, Daphne Hounsell and Caroline Harris.

The next competition will be the Fruit and Veg City mixed 2-4-2. Convener, Ron McAlister, catering by Johannie Theron and Maureen Head.

There will be a talk at The Bell today (Thursday, January 16) at 2.15pm.

The subject will be the laws of bowls and measuring. All welcome.

UMTENTWENI

STEVE O’ Moore and Peter Ford won the South Coast Herald men’s pairs, played last Tuesday, with a score of 4+22 from runners-up Tony Korb and Dumisani Madlala on 4+5.

Dennis Graham and Mike Findlay won the session prize on 2+12, on a count out.

Bep Gouweloos and Dumisani Madlala won the Harbour View SuperSpar mixed pairs, played last Thursday, with a score of 4+16 from runners-up George and Marie Pick on 4+5.

Tony Aveyard and Astrid Jackson won the session prize on 2+10.

Bep Gouweloos, Louis Marx and Jenny Graham won the Schooners Restaurant mixed trips (3-2-1 scoring) with 70 points, from second placed Dennis Graham, Felicity Howe and Mike Findlay on 48.

The next event will be the John Dory’s mixed fours this Friday, January 17, followed by the Abingdon Road Spar comp on Thursday 27.

VILLAGE

THE greens are up and running again, thanks to all the hard work from greenkeeper Bill Parfitt and his helpers.

The next sponsored competitions at the club are Wingnuts Plumbing mixed 2-4-2 on Monday, January 20, the Execudec mixed 2-4-2 on Tuesday, January 28, followed by Hopdens Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 on Monday, February 3, Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips on Tuesday, February 11 and Hibiscus Insurance Brokers’ mixed trips on Thursday, February 13.

The in-house Hyundai mixed trips will be played this Saturday, January 18.
