Busy time at kennel club

Billy and Gunner are an 'unstoppable' pair.

‘MR WEATHERMAN’ has been blamed on many occasions this year for all the disasters that have befallen the Hibiscus Kennel Club but this time we want to thank him for playing the game this past weekend and affording us the opportunity of playing on both Saturday and Sunday.

Everyone enjoyed the games and the delicious tea on Saturday and many went home with certificates and rosettes for perseverance, showing improvement and excellent attendance. The club’s youngest member, Billy Engelbrecht, with her Jack Russell Gunner was nominated as child handler of the year and Tracy Norton and her boxer, Badger received a certificate for overall improvement. Badger is showing excellent progress at agility and the two are so ‘tuned in’ to each other in obedience classes that they deserve this nomination.

The trainers who are there every weekend were thanked for all their hard work in assisting handlers with difficult dogs and encouraging everyone to do their best.

Sunday was show time with a record entry of 64 dogs, including a large contingent from Durban and two from Pietermaritzburg.

Hibiscus Kennel Club members did exceptionally well, especially Tracy and Badger who were first with a clear round twice in a field of 26 dogs.
