Successful show for Hibiscus Kennel Club

Members showed they can compete with the best in the show ring.

HIBISCUS Kennel Club hosted another very successful championship show last weekend.

As the occasion was also the club’s 40th anniversary, it was pleasing to welcome so many out of town exhibitors and attract a record number of agility entries.

Special thanks go to the weatherman for turning on almost three consecutive days of near perfect conditions.

Congratulations to the organisers and everyone who assisted in ensuring this year’s event was an outstanding success. Di Wallace, who is still relatively new to the sport, did a specially fine job. Her team of young helpers who helped set up the course, sell cold drinks and undertake anything else they were asked to do, was outstanding.

On Saturday a special tea supplied by members was served. The highlight was cutting the beautiful cake made in celebration of the club’s 40th anniversary.

It was really wonderful to welcome visiting judge, Neil Kay from Nelspruit especially as 41 years ago he had assisted in setting up the new club’s original committee.

Members of KUSA (Kennel Club of SA) who assisted with the breed side of the show are sincerely thanked. Their assistance was invaluable as was the generosity afforded by the sponsors.

Local club members found themselves up against stiff competition from many including world acclaimed trainer, Hinky Nickels from Germany, but were able to hold their own.

Gaby Frey is thanked for organising the seminars and she and Scooby are wished the very best as they go into countdown for the world championships taking place later this month.

Gaby and Scooby went home with four firsts and a CC and KT a first and a second with CC. Tracy Norton and Badger, our newies, took home a first and a second with CC. Jane Cruickshank and Mackie were very pleased with their three firsts and a second and Elsie McKillen and Jess did very well with three third places and a first with CC. Linda Lyte and Vixen counted first, second and third which is excellent work from a senior team.

Liz Fourie and Miki are showing great potential and they took home a first and a third. Jenny Robertson and the well behaved Jodie were ecstatic with their second place.

Normal training resumes this Saturday.
