Sisters Joan’s High bids farewell to teachers

They were also awarded certificates of recognition for their hard work.

Sister Joan’s High bid farewell to a well-loved teacher, Fikile Mthinti, who has retired, at a function at Margate Hotel last Thursday.

While Mtinti goes into retirement, two of her colleagues have been transferred to other schools after teaching Grade 12 with distinction, having earned their school a 94% pass rate in 2023.

Hard working Grade 12 teachers were awarded certificates of recognition for excellent results in the 2023 final exams.

Bongi Msongelwa and Mncedi Sondaba will be missed for their hard work, dedication, diligence and co-operation.

The principal, Mpendulo Ndimande, said they are outstanding teachers who enlightened their learners to achieve great results, and that it was sad to see them go, and he hoped that they will continue to make a change in the lives of learners.

Ndimande and the Ugu Department of Education’s circuit manager for the Ezinqoleni area, B Mavundla, praised the teachers for achieving remarkable results last year.

They were also awarded certificates of recognition for their hard work.

Grade 12 leachers achieved a 94% pass rate.

“You faced challenges last year, but you remained focused and patient. Education can change everything and provide solutions to our social problems. So let’s educate our children and give them skills to deal with social ills,” said Mavundla.

She also urged principals not to let learners leave immediately after their final matric exams but on the last day of school.

“Organise sports activities because we have noticed that crime increases during the final exam period. You let them go to stay at home before the closure of schools. They loaf around, go to malls, and get hooked on criminal activities and get criminal records,” said Mavundla.
