Southbroom clinch McKenzie Cup

The tournament was played over two days.

Southbroom Golf Club won the annual McKenzie Cup, played at Underberg Golf Club last weekend.

The winning team comprised Gary Purtell, Brian Jolliffe, Johan Wentzel and Grant Richards.

The tournament, played over two days and always hosted by a rural/country club, is famously social and has been going for many, many years.

In regular club golf, the Mary Thomson Memorial Goblet was won by Michelle Adcock last Wednesday on 36 points.

The men’s competition was won by Bob Clark on 36 points, counting out Eddie Geffen.

In third place was Nicky Smith on 34 points, tied with Olliver Ransome, Andrew Wager and Phil Verwey.

The ladies’ betterball last Saturday was won by Augie D’Ewes and Allyson Thomas on 37 points.

Runners-up were Jill O’Callaghan and Val Volck on 36 points, with Val pivoting to take third place with Candida Amm, also on 36 points.

The men’s betterball was won by Werner Duggan and Neill Crossey on 43 points, counting out Bob Carmichael and Colin Mckay.

In third place on 42 points were Jack Moulder and Derek James.

Chicken Run: Danie Schutte 21 points, Paul Botes 20 points, Precious Mkhungo 18 points.
