Villagers enjoy colourism festival

Children enjoyed the jumping castle, egg and spoon race, face painting, live music and many other activities.

Face painting was the order of the day during the Ashburn Colourism Festival, which was also used to welcome spring.

This fun-filled fest organised by Ocean Cream Apparel, which is run by Jabulani ‘Jay’ Sibeniwas, was held at Oshabeni Location, near Port Shepstone.

Most of the activities were specifically meant to be fun for the children. Children enjoyed the jumping castle, egg and spoon race, face painting, live music and many other activities.

Playing with powder paint are (back, from left) Phila Gumede, Anathi Cele and Sthandiwe Cele, with Andile Sibiya in front.

According to the organisers, the turnout exceeded their expectations.

When the Fever spoke to Jay, he said: “The support I received is more than what I expected, it was 120%. We had arranged to make the children happy by bringing them things they are not used to. This is a different event to those I am used to hosting. It’s unique and something you cannot find on the South Coast. The children will cherish the memories for a long time. Making kids happy will always give me that special feeling.”

He promised more fun when the event is held again next year.

Accompanying the children are Gcinile Duma (left) and Andile Ngcobo.
