Trials await for U13 cricketers

The boys have worked hard in the build up to the tournament.

Opportunity knocks for the region’s young cricketers when the KZN Primary Schools’ trials take place in Durban North this weekend.

The Southern KZN U13 team boasts a number of players who attracted the attention of the selectors at the Glenwood Festival earlier in the year.

Should they put in some excellent performances over the three matches, they could well find themselves in provincial colours.

The tournament played from September 14 to 16, will see teams play three 50-over games, so this will test the boys’ endurance and mettle.

Callum Heydricks (Izotsha) was originally selected but unfortunately sustained an injury and had to withdraw.

The team is (in alphabetical order) Damion Bezuidenhout (Port Edward), Ethan Budd (Suid-Natal), Jacques de Bruin (Southcity), Karlo Jacobs (Suid-Natal), Benjamin Kunz (Home School), Zyev Mahadev (Izotsha), Thuso Mavundla (Margate), Sphephelo Mlambo (Izotsha), Khulubuse Mlondo (Creston), Yusuf Moolla (Port Shepstone SP), Hlalumi Ntongana (Port Edward), Ruben van Reenen (Home School – captain).

Gershion Lawrence is the manager, and his two coaches are Jayden Scholtz and Brinley de Bruin.
