Beach cleanup targets plastic

The clean-up was organised by Port Shepstone Rotary Club which actively participates in such events on the South Coast.

Taking part in a beach cleanup is a great opportunity to connect with the ocean and learn about the environment on the South Coast.

Simply picking up small pieces of plastic on the beach has a huge positive impact.

A group of about 25 learners from Port Shepstone Secondary, Port Shepstone High and Creston College got together and cleaned up from Bondi Lane to Le Shac in Shelly Beach last Saturday.

The cleanup was organised by Port Shepstone Rotary Club, which actively participates in beach clean-up events to remove rubbish and debris from beaches in order to save and help wildlife and vegetation.

The group collected litter and concentrated on the small pieces of plastic. The team collected about 25 bags of rubbish, most of these included small pieces of plastic.

Cleaning up the shoreline in Shelly Beach are learners from Port Shepstone High, Creston College and Port Shepstone Secondary.
