Two by-elections coming up

The IEC emphasises that one can only vote where one is registered.

The Electoral Commission in the Ugu district is scheduled to conduct two by-elections, namely wards 14 and 24, in the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality.

The by-election is scheduled to take place on September 11 this year, with special votes on September 10. All voting stations will be open from 07:00 to 21:00.

Voters are urged to bring their green barcoded ID books, smart cards and/or a valid temporary ID book.

Ward 14 in KwaMadlala will have four voting stations, namely Sozabe High School, Maris Stella School, Lousiana School and African Apostolic Mission Church.

This vacancy comes after the former councillor Sabelo Malunga resigned.

Ward 24 comprises five voting districts, namely Nyandezulu Primary School, Zwelihle Combined Primary School, Nsingizi Primary School, Makhanda High School and Bomvini Creche.

This vacancy came after the death of councillor Nkosi Ndlela.

Regional Outreach Officer Andile Msomi emphasised that one can only vote where one is registered.
