Pageant hopeful aims to empower

Noluthando Mthimkhulu says she will use the Miss Phenomenal Queen South Africa crown to advocate for a depression-free society.

Gamalakhe’s Noluthando Pearl Mthimkhulu is asking South Coasters to support her in the run for Miss Phenomenal Queen South Africa.

Mthimkhulu said she needs votes to be in the finals.

She explained that she entered the pageant because she wanted to use the platform to amplify her voice, educate and raise awareness of the two objectives of her organisation.

The Mama weSizwe Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded by Mthimkhulu.

Aside from giving back, the foundation advocates for a depression-free society.

The Miss Phenomenal hopeful said the pageant would allow her to embark on several initiatives that empower the community.

Mthimkhulu said she started modelling in 2016 while doing matric, saying that the first pageant she won was Miss Gamalakhe.

She has previously won the title of Miss Gamalakhe Personality 2016, Miss Thami Xpress Queen 2016, and Miss Lonsdale Queen 2019.

The Mangosuthu University of Technology alumnus was the second runner-up in the 2019 Miss KZN Townships.

She was in the top five of South Africa’s Next International Models in 2019, a finalist in Miss KZN Colleges in 2019, and a second runner-up in Miss SALGA KZN 2020, among others.

“I started modelling as a young girl. I used to get excited seeing women on television walking in heels, smiling, and looking gorgeous. I started watching more pageantry shows; I never missed Tyra Banks’ Show, America’s Next Top Model. The love grew from there,” she said.

She added for the voting process, people can visit her Facebook page, Noluthando Pearl Mthimkhulu.
