Municipality warns of job scam

Job seekers are advised to research the company, verify job offers, and be cautious of unsolicited job opportunities that seem too good to be true.

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality warns the public to beware of a job scam that has been doing the rounds in Port Shepstone.

“The scam advises people to submit their CVs at Sasol Garage or at the bus rank for jobs at the Port Shepstone Intermodal and Retail Facility. Currently, there is no process of hiring people who will be working in the shops that will be occupying the facility. It is still under construction, and it will be occupied by tenants who will be conducting their own hiring processes,” said municipal spokesperson Simon April.

He added that while the municipality understands the despair caused by the high unemployment rate, job seekers are advised to research the company, verify job offers, and be cautious of unsolicited job opportunities that seem too good to be true.

Further information on whether any cases have been opened for investigation by police was not received at the time of going to press.
