Gold for Tyler at karate champs

Hard work had certainly paid off for these two athletes.

Two local karateka achieved success at the recent UFAK Region South Karate Champs which were held in Swakopmund in Namibia.

Tyler Hogan and Ilhaam Amod, representing WKF Ugu Karate, won gold and bronze medals in their divisions, respectively.

The local club was proud of them, enjoying the fact that they brought back medals in some hard-fought competition.

Their contribution also meant that the South African contingent had the highest medal count at the tournament.

Tyler earned his gold in the senior male kata division, while Ilhaam’s bronze came in the junior female kumite division.

Ugu Karate chairman Coenie Vrey said that hard work had certainly paid off for these two athletes.

“They are commended on their excellent achievements in representing the region on an international stage.”
