Thrills and spills at junior cricket

The league is coming to a thrilling conclusion.

The pool games are over, and the stage is set for the South Coast Junior Cricket Winter League semi-finals and finals.

The semis took place at Southcity Christian School, where top-ranked CMCA (Clinton Moodley Cricket Academy) face RC Chargers.

In the later game, second-placed South Coast Snipers play RC Challengers, who finished third.

Margate Spartans and Port Shepstone Hub finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

The coaches involved are Clinton Moodley, Robbie Coutts, Jayden Scholtz, André Ellapen and Ben Malamba.
Rounds four and five were played last week, with some exciting and entertaining cricket on show.

This was especially the case in the match between the Chargers and Snipers where the match was won on the very last ball.

Then there was leg-spinner Brody Beekman’s near hat-trick against Spartans, with the hat-trick wicket a dropped catch.

Unperturbed, he then bowled the batsman on the very next ball.

The final – and a possible bronze medal match to be confirmed – will be played at Port Shepstone Country Club this Saturday.

Zibu Malamba bats for Port Shepstone Hub.
