Genesis Healthcare Centre held a successful healing programme for the elderly at their Marburg Offices recently.
It was well attended by enthusiastic grannies who shared their health experiences with health practitioners. The centre runs health and outreach programmes to be able to check on patients who have been discharged.
Genesis health practitioner, Penny Gcwacela addressed the attendees and stated that they organised the healing programme for their elderly patients to share their experiences with them, as well as provide diabetic tests and wound dressing on the day.
“We provide an essential service to the elderly. We have programmes for our visiting clients whom we have discharged. We check on them to ensure that they take their medication correctly and that they do not miss out on their collection dates for medication. Some of the elderly people get referred to us by hospitals as they miss their clinic appointment dates,” said Gcwacela.
She added that they also visit the elderly at their homes with medication and provide them with counselling and healing services.
“You have one life, or you live once; you need to take care of your life,” said Gcwacela
Some of the elderly gave testimonies of health assistance they received from Genesis staff or nurses, who then sang healing melodies in celebration of their successful programmes.
