Traditional attire donation for dance group

The group had recently asked the Umdoni Municipality for attire assistance.

In observing Youth Month, Umdoni Municipality’s Mayor Mbali Cele-Luthuli donated traditional attire to an all-youth traditional dance group, Ushuni WaseMzini, from Amandawe area last Friday.

The group had recently asked the municipality for attire assistance.

Cele-Luthuli said the youth are the future leaders of the country.

She said 2024 marks the 48th anniversary of the 1976 Soweto Uprising.

“This year, we commemorate Youth Month under the theme ‘actively embracing the socio-economic gains of our democracy.’ Under the banner of youth development in Umdoni, we have implemented programmes that aim to develop our youth through education, economically and via skills. Opportunities are security training, capacity building of youth forums, leadership programmes, and digital skills. Our municipality advocates for the development of the youth. It was, therefore, imperative for us to positively respond to their request and give honour to our commitment of youth development,” she said.
