Ruben, Benjamin star for Challengers

The league gave local juniors a chance to hone their skills.

Ruben van Reenen and Benjamin Kunz starred for the Port Shepstone Challengers (Robbie Coutts Cricket Academy) in the CMCA Powerwise T20 tournament, which finished last Saturday.

The overall winners were the Green Mambas from Scottburgh, with the Challengers finishing fifth. They lost three games and won one.

However, cricketers of various ages took part, so one could not judge it strictly according to age.

It was a brilliantly organised tournament with Clinton Moodley and his team, including Veronique du Plooy, really going the extra mile.

Best batsman for the Challengers was Ruben, with 158 runs over four matches. He compiled three 50s (two not out) and a rare duck.

Benjamin was the pick of the bowlers. In the four matches he played, he took six wickets for 49 runs in eight overs.
