New chief for Harding

He was officially introduced to the community and will now wait for an official inauguration from the Zulu monarch.

Inkosi Busani Zungu, the only son of the late Inkosi Sdumo, has taken over the reins of Bashaweni area near Harding.

According to Zungu, after his father’s death in 2015, it was decided that his mother would take over the reins until he was older.

He was officially introduced to the community last Saturday and will now wait for an official inauguration from the Zulu monarch.

According to Zungu, the family received a letter from the Traditional Prime Minister in January, informing them that he was now ready to take over.

He said he then started attending workshops and programmes that would benefit his people.

“Cogta and the Traditional House has recognised me, I now have to visit the King so that he can decide when he can inaugurate me.”

The Chief said one of his goals is to empower the youth in his area through sports and education.

He has already started working in his community, and he wants to make sure that the youth is educated.

“I believe a lot in the saying, let’s make education fashionable.”

A neighbouring chief, Inkosi Senzo Dlamini, said he will support Zungu wholeheartedly.
