Sponsor chips in to assist Red Desert FC

The Chippa United founder made a personal visit.

The Red Desert Football Club and Community Association is proud and grateful to have received a personal visit from Chippa United founder and chairman, Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi, who has generously offered his sponsorship.

Red Desert is based in Port Edward, on the border of KZN and the Eastern Cape, and draws junior and senior players from both provinces.

These ambitious and fiercely dedicated players come from challenging socio-economic backgrounds and give their all to the sport while undernourished and under-resourced.

They have passionate local support from all ages, races and religions in the community and have a diverse, multiracial management team that includes women.

Mpengesi donated kits and balls and has pledged to assist with shoes, academic bursaries and football academy opportunities.

He gave an inspirational speech about his rise from poverty to success, which greatly moved the players and management team.

Credit and gratitude was also given to Advocate Sandile Nogxina (Chairperson of Airports Company South Africa) and owner of Equinox Farms in Port Edward for initiating and facilitating these life-changing opportunities for the youth.

Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi, in the blue jacket, speaks at the event.
