New water tankers for Ugu

The mayor, Sikhumbuzo Mqadi, issued a stern warning to vandals who who might try to destroy these tankers.

Ugu District Municipality has purchased three new water tankers to boost its existing fleet.

The mayor, Sikhumbuzo Mqadi, said the additional trucks are to minimise the use of contracted tankers.

“The water tankers were bought via the Development Bank of Southern Africa for Ugu, bringing the number of water tankers owned by the municipality to 35.”

Mqadi issued a stern warning to vandals who might attempt to destroy the tankers. A number of vehicles were destroyed during the 2022 unrest.

Mqadi said those who are found destroying municipal infrastructure and service delivery vehicles will be dealt with harshly.

“The new tankers are meant to serve as relief supply to assist communities of Umuziwabantu with intermittent water supply issues.”
