Karateka return with medal haul

It was an exhilarating, hard-fought championship.

A group of Ugu karateka had the honour of representing KZN at the recent KSA Children’s, Cadets and Junior National Championships held in Durban from April 5-7.

It was an exhilarating, hard-fought championship with a record number of entries per division. Entries included individual and team events.

Results for Ugu athletes were as follows:
Tyler Gous – gold 10/11 individual kumite.
Miguel Gous – bronze 14/15 individual kumite.
Tyrese Faro – bronze 14/15 individual kumite, silver – cadet team kumite.
Ilhaam Amod – bronze 16/17 individual kumite, gold – junior team kumite.
Wian de Beer – gold 16/17 individual kumite, gold – junior team kumite.
Blake Hogan – silver cadet team kumite.
Dylan Peeriyilal – gold junior team kumite.

Shihans Coenie Vrey and Frank Moodley were extremely proud of all the Ugu karateka for the hard work they have put into training for the tournament over the past few weeks and their impressive results.
