Harding model to compete in pageant in Peru

Athembile Ntozakhe (14) was crowned Miss Mini Grand South Africa at Riverside Hotel in Durban on February 18.

A top SA model from Harding, Athembile Ntozakhe, will represent South Africa in the Mini Grand International competition in Peru, South America, later this year.

Ntozakhe (14) was crowned Miss Mini Grand South Africa at Riverside Hotel in Durban on February 18.
The competition was organised by Miss Teen Universe South Africa in association with the Raising Future Leaders ‘Siwugoba Usemanzi Foundation’ to expose talented models from South Africa and KZN.

Ntozakhe’s mother, Nokuphiwa Mbhele, said they are overwhelmed with excitement after the good news of her daughter clinching the top modelling award.

“She has always loved modelling and we supported her, now she has an opportunity to travel the world and to Peru to represent our country. We are proud of her and she needs all the support from our community and the nation.”

Mbhele said the Mini Grand competition served as a platform for cultural exchange, personal growth, celebration of diversity and being the ambassador of your country.

“International pageants can be financially burdensome and require significant commitments. Your support will truly make a difference. We are requesting support to defray the costs of the international participation fee, accommodation, meals, return flight tickets, evening gown, traditional attire and accessories,” she said.
According to Mbhele, Miss Teen Universe South Africa Minis is an annual girl-child empowerment programme that aims to empower young girls between the ages of 4-14.

“Participating in this international competition not only puts South Africa on the map but also provides our representative with essential life skills and experiences. We want to build a better tomorrow for our youth by unleashing talent in modelling and equipping them with necessary skills and strategies that instil confidence and discipline.”

Mbhele outlined the cost of the international travel: participation fee of R70 000, return flights from OR Tambo International Airport – Jorge Chavez International Airport at R 68 000 per person, accommodation, airport transfers, tours around the country, and meals at R45 000 per person, and outfits and accessories at R30 000.
Mbhele pleads for support from the community, businesses, government and municipalities.

“My daughter will give back to the community and can be a brand ambassador or face of your brand for a period of six months. She may do photoshoots for your marketing material and promotions – attend your social events, corporate promotional events and awareness campaigns.”

To support, call Nokuphiwa Mbhele on 078 4152016 or the director of Miss Teen Universe South Africa, Ntombifuthi Gumede on 076 7004079.
