Cynthia sets sights on Mrs Bold crown

The Port Edward resident said her passion for modelling began at a young age when she discovered the transformative power of fashion and self-expression.

Cynthia Nene (42) is gunning for the Mrs Bold South Africa 2024 crown and, should she win, she will use it to amplify the voices of women from all walks of life.

The mother of three (two boys and a girl) is originally from Pietermaritzburg but lives in Port Edward and works at the Wild Coast Sun as a marketing manager.

Cynthia said she entered the pageant because she resonated deeply with its vision of celebrating strength, compassion and leadership in women.

“I believe in the power of embracing one’s uniqueness and creating positive change,” she said, adding that she sees the platform as an opportunity to contribute to that vision.

Her passion for modelling began at a young age when she discovered the transformative power of fashion and self-expression.

She explained that over time this passion grew as she realised that modelling could be a platform for promoting diversity, confidence and empowerment.

“I aspire to win Mrs Bold because I am committed to championing the values of boldness and resilience that the pageant stands for. Winning this title would not only be a personal achievement, but also a chance to inspire other women to embrace their boldness and make a difference in their communities,” she said.

Cynthia said that while she has not won pageants in the past few years, she has always been drawn to opportunities that allow her to showcase her talents, voice and story.

She said the pageant presents an exciting new chapter in her journey to challenge traditional beauty standards, promote inclusivity and diversity in the industry, and use the platform to advocate for important social issues, including mental health awareness and education.

“I would initiate meaningful conversations, organise impactful events and collaborate with organisations dedicated to creating positive change. As an individual and titleholder, I am committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of others and leaving a legacy of courage, compassion and resilience,” she said.

The crowning will take place in Johannesburg in October.
