Pink paintings in aid of cancer to be auctioned

The paintings will be auctioned off, in support of SACCA at a gala dinner in the VIP lounge of Capello restaurant in the Southcoast Mall on April 4.

As a key feature of the Lace-Up for Cancer event last Saturday, Art by the Sea hosted a ‘Paint in Pink for Cancer’ drive, where more than 30 paintings were produced with predominantly pink paint.

The live painting session took place on the veranda of the Refillery at the Earth Shed. The paintings were then donated to Madeleine Pretorius, provincial director of Southern Africa Animal Cancer Association (SAACA).

The event was organised to commemorate and support International Cancer Awareness Day which was observed on February 4.

The paintings will be auctioned off, in support of SACCA at a gala dinner in the VIP lounge of Capello restaurant in the Southcoast Mall on April 4. This will coincide with Art by the Sea’s Easter Exhibition between March 25 and April 6.

Art by the Sea member and the organiser of Paint in Pink, Johann du Toit, thanks the community for their support.

“As a cancer survivor, it was encouraging to see the positive response from my art colleagues as well as their compassion for cancer research. Likewise, the response of the public on the day and on social media was absolutely heart-warming,” he added.
