Bosman under the stars with Barbie Meyer

Any donations from the evening will go directly to the Ivungu River Conservancy to enable the volunteer-run group to continue with the essential work they do in keeping the green areas in and around Uvongo, alien-free, snare-free, litter-free and the Ivungu River Reserve maintained.

The Ivungu River Conservancy has teamed up with Barbie Meyer for a storytelling treat at Uvongo Tennis Club on Saturday, March 2 from 6pm.

There will be no cover charge and all are invited. Those who can donate an amount they can afford to the conservancy, can do so.

Barbie is well known for her beautifully told and often hilarious renditions of the work written by Herman Charles Bosman.

Bosman is widely regarded as the greatest short story writer to come out of this country.
His books are some of the finest in the field of South African literature.

These stories are brought to life by the comical, sassy and often khaki-clad actress Barbie Meyer.
Barbie has an uncanny knack for putting these stories across, with an intoxicating blend of humour, irony and wit.

Her passion for the author’s short stories is both effervescent and infectious.
For Bosman fans and the uninitiated alike, this storytelling comes highly recommended having played successfully at the Grahamstown Festival and many other venues and festivals across the country.
People attending should bring their own picnic supper, drinks and a chair or blanket to sit on.

“Or you can opt for a hearty meal, with both meat and veggie options available, which will be available to purchase. To book a bowl, call Sarah on 083 3313866,” said the organisers.
