Municipality warns of job scam

The municipality's spokesperson Bruce Jalubani said they received a report that someone is charging people money and promising employment within the municipality.

Umuziwabantu Municipality is warning the public about a job scam that is doing the rounds.

The municipality’s spokesperson, Bruce Jalubani said they received a report that a person is charging people money and promising employment in the municipality.

In this case, said Jalubani, the person pretends to be someone who communicates with the mayor of Umuziwabantu Municipality.

He said the perpetrator is lying, instead intending to defraud people.

“We want to make it clear that the mayor of the municipality, Sboniso Zungu, has no connection with anyone selling job vacancies. And no job applications are given to the mayor even if it is said that there are vacancies that we have advertised. Please do not fall victim to this scam, there are no jobs for sale within the municipality. If there are job vacancies, we advertise them for everyone to see and applications are submitted to the HR (Human Resources) office and you are not charged. If someone says that he will find you a job and wants you to pay him for that, please let us know and report it to the police so that the law can play its role,” said Jalubani.
