South Coaster and social media influencer, Thandeka Mzobe, has proven that age is just a number when it comes to content creation and going viral.

Mzobe who is originally from Nyangwini in Mthwalume has made a name for herself by recording videos on TikTok cracking jokes, sharing positive messages and exercising in front of the camera.

She is one of the social media influencers over the age of 40 who is challenging perceptions and quickly becoming role models for younger generations.

Mzobe now brags over 190 000 followers and more than 3.3 million views on TikTok.
She told Fever that growing up as an orphan and being a slave to herding cattle made her want to do something that would heal her traumas of the past.

The 40-year-old currently lives in Kukhanyeni, near Mariannhill (Durban) with her husband Bongakwakhe Mzobe.
Talking about how she started creating content on social media, Mzobe said that when both her parents died in a space of two years, she was forced to find something that would heal the 13-year-old girl who went through a lot after their deaths.

“I found a way to heal myself and get rid of depression because if I hadn’t, I would have lost a lot of weight. I told myself that I want to be a light in people’s lives because I can stay calm. Finding a loving and supportive husband has made me comfortable and he helps me shoot my videos,” said Mzobe.

The couple had been dating for years and has been married for seven years, and are blessed with two sons and two daughters.

She said her family loves God more so because her husband is a pastor at the Church of Zion.

“The thing I like about my husband is that he is loving, he supports me and he pays close attention to everything. He makes me and our children happy,” said Mzobe, adding that they are both currently unemployed.
Mzobe said she sells chips to put food on the table, adding that he wishes to one day expand her shop and have enough stock.

She also told Fever that she is still learning ways to make money through her social media, saying that she is currently in talks with a funeral parlour that wants her to create content on them while promoting their business.
In conclusion, Mzobe said she knows that it is not only her who is an orphan, but she wishes that everyone like her can be a good example and help other people.

She added that although she has nothing, she is glad that someone goes to sleep laughing because of her content.

“I wake up early and create content because I got used to being woken up with a stick,” she said.
