New football association’s league kicks off

The second round of matches will continue this Sunday at 08:00.

The much-anticipated Mehlomnyama Local Football Association’s league kicked off last Sunday, and as a new association expectations were high.

The matches were played at Mehlomnyama Sportsfield in the Village of Mehlomnyama, close to Port Shepstone.
The league opened with Siyabangena FC against FC Bavarians Academy and the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Falcons FC then took on Mawuleni FC and it was sweet victory for Falcons who put the ball in the back of the net three times against Mawuleni’s one.

The match which had fans excited was between Gunnerz FC and Hlokoloza 19 FC. Hlokoloza took the lead in the second half, but it was short lived as Gunnerz quickly responded and held on until end of the match which ended 1-1.

In other results, Mehlomnyama United cruised past Legends FC 2-0, and Surecase FC lost 0-1 to Hunters FC. Shooting Stars collected maximum points after they defeated Italians FC by a single goal. AK Bullets shared the spoils with Swallows FC as their match ended 2-2.

The second round of matches will continue this Sunday at 08:00.

According to the association’s secretary, Mthokozisi Dlamini everything went smoothly and the leaders of this football structure are satisfied with their achievements.

“From management’s side, we believe we exceeded out expectations as not a single game was interrupted. The level of football was of a very high standard,” he added.
