Entrepreneurs share ideas at mayoral business fair

The acting mayor highlighted how they are still struggling to revive the economy after it was hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, riots, and the recent floods that affected businesses and people throughout the province.

The Ray Nkonyeni Municipality Mayoral Business Fair held recently, was supported by the KZN Department of Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA).
The fair was held at the South Coast Mall.

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality acting mayor Sibusiso Shange said he was very pleased to receive recommendations from business people assisted by the municipality.

Shange said the main purpose of the initiative was to elevate and share ideas on how small, micro and medium enterprises (SMMEs) can improve and grow their businesses.

He added that the fair also served as a platform for SMMEs to showcase their products as well as build relationships among themselves.

Shange said they are currently in a situation where they are trying to boost the local economy.

He added that with the festive season approaching, there are many things planned that will attract tourists and play an important role in boosting the economy.

“What made me very happy was to see many business owners praising Ray Nkonyeni Municipality. This was mostly because most of these business people have previously received help from the municipality,” said Shange.
Exhibiting on the day, one of the SMMEs, Masibulelo Mseleku, who owns a cosmetics business called Lelo M Skincare said that he would like to be helped with the assembly of his products, especially the machines.
The Murchison resident said said he started this business in 2020, with the aim of helping people with skin problems.
