Progress on maintenance at Umthwalume beach
The municipality said it had to give factual progress on the maintenance of Umthwalume beach after a video shared on social media allegedly paints an inaccurate picture of the current situation.
Umdoni Municipality recently disputed claims that it was not maintaining Umthwalume beach.
In a statement the municipality said work is being undertaken on the female ablution block, saying that on completion it will commence with the maintenance of the male ablution block.
The municipality said it had to give factual progress on the maintenance of Umthwalume beach a video shared on social media allegedly paints an inaccurate picture of the current situation of Umthwalume beach.
“The municipality is steadfast in making sure that its beach facilities are fully operational by the time the municipality launches the festive season. Members of the public and holidaymakers who will be choosing the Umdoni area as their home for the festive season are urged not to be discouraged but to disregard all individuals who share inaccurate information with the view to discredit the municipality’s efforts and simultaneously tarnish its image,” read the statement, adding that Umdoni municipality will continue to strengthen its tourism existence and residents and holidaymakers alike can rest assured that its beaches will be ready for the grandest festive season.
