‘Taking services to the people’
Khanyiso Seyisi, Assistant Director Regional Communication Co-ordinator said this year’s Thusong Service Centre Week was held nationwide from September 18 to 22 under the theme: Building a Professional Public Service for Quality Service Delivery.
The Government Communications and Information Systems (GCIS) recently hosted the annual Thusong Service Centre Week at the Emalangeni Thusong Centre in Umdoni Municipality and KwaMadlala Thusong Centre in Ray Nkonyeni Municipality respectively.
Khanyiso Seyisi, Assistant Director Regional Communication Co-ordinator said this year’s Thusong Service Centre Week was held nationwide from September 18 to 22 under the theme: Building a Professional Public Service for Quality Service Delivery.
Seyisi said Thusong Service Centres ensure that communities can access information and government services in line with the Batho Pele principles, and is part of government’s commitment of taking services to the people.
He said this year’s Thusong Service Centre Week programme was held in an information-sharing format where various stakeholders shared information about the services they offer to communities.
“The stakeholders present were Vodacom, Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), Department of Social Development, Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Department of Health, Ugu District Environmental Section, Umdoni Municipality, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, Broadrich, Lifeline, Generation Gender, Saps and Jhpiego. Ward councillors, community development workers, ward committees and other community formations played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the programme,” he said, adding that the stakeholders shared information related to culture, traditions, Heritage Month, gender-based violence, femicide, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, climate change, food security, greening, tree planting, telecommunication, network and more.
