A night of Maskandi music awaits

Event organisers are asking festivalgoers to dust their Brentwood trousers and polish their Carvela shoes in preparation for a night of Maskandi music.

The third annual Ugu Maskandi Festival is returning to the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre this Saturday, September 30, with the promise of a line-up that comprises 60% of local artists.

Event organisers are asking festivalgoers to dust their Brentwood trousers and polish their Carvela shoes in preparation for a night of Maskandi music.

Melusi Khwela of Ugu Broadcasting Services said they are ready to host the event.

He added that although the event’s lineup will feature over 60% local artists, it will see performances from big names such as Amageza Amahle, Amavikela Mbuso, Khuzani, Thwasa leKhansela, Igcokama Elisha, Ezechalacha, Bahubhe, Ntencane, Phuzekhemisi, Inkosi Yamagcokama, Mpuphe and many more.

Khwela said they will not be repeating the mistakes made in 2022.

He added that the public can look forward to the appearances of actor Sibonile Ngubane, popular for his role as Difa on the telenovela Umkhokha.

Khwela said popular ambassadors of the Ugu Maskandi Festival, Sbonelo ‘Chicken’, and his mother Smangele Mhlongo of KwaNjomane will also be at the event.

He added that for more information on the festival, the public can visit the Facebook page, Ugu Maskandi Festival_Official.
