RNM’s councillor Mngqosini dies

According to sources, Mngqosini died after he had been hospitalised for an illness.

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality hosted a memorial service for Ward 23 councillor, Welcome Zanenhlanhla Mfanufikile Mngqosini, at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre on September 21.

According to sources, Mngqosini died after he had been hospitalised for an illness.
RNM spokesperson, Simon April said Mngqosini’s death is not only a loss to the municipality, but to the ANC and the Ward 23 community in Boboyi.

He explained that students of the Esayidi TVET College were also hard-hit because he was their lecturer, saying that Mngqosini’s students passed with flying colours because of his knowledge and experience.

“Condolences to his family, friends and the ANC,” said April

Following Mngqosini’s death, Ward 23 could see a by-election, but for now, ANC proportional representative Ayanda Prince Gumede will oversee matters of the ward until a new ward councillor has been officially elected.

ANC Tolomane Mnyayiza Regional spokesperson, Wendy Mqadi said they were saddened by Mngqosini’s death as he was very active in his ward.

Mqadi said there was a lot that they were still expecting Mngqosini to do as a councillor.

“We really had high hopes. We send our deepest condolences to his family. His family gave to us as the ANC and he stayed with us until his last breath,” said Mqadi.
