Just Joplin returns

The second performance will be held at The Packshed Restaurant near Margate on September 23 from 6pm.

Barbie Meyer and The Gentry are returning with a second performance of Just Joplin.
Just Joplin is an exhilarating account of Janis Joplin’s life and music and is directed by Marke Meyer.
The second performance will be held at The Packshed Restaurant near Margate on Saturday, September 23 from 6pm.

According to the organisers, the show opened to wide acclaim, and the first performance was sold out.

“Those who didn’t get in the first time or would love to see it again will be pleased to know that a second performance will take place. The show is just that – all about the musical icon that was Janis Joplin. Barbie plays the iconic singer with nerve and verve. She is accompanied by James Carlsen on vocals and guitar, Wayne Coughlan on electric, and Brent Geldenhuys on bass and percussion,” said the organisers, adding that the show is a crazy mix.

Meanwhile, Barbie Meyer said: “It includes a bit of her background, the people she mixed with, the characters that inspired her, her untimely death, and of course her wild and woolly songs.”
