Lad guns for youth award

The former Marburg Secondary pupil is asking the public to vote for him so that he can take the Live Your Dream SA award home.

Mbango resident Sanele ‘Sonnybee’ Zuke has been nominated in the Live Your Dream SA Youth Awards under the category of Best TV Presenter.

The former Marburg Secondary pupil is asking the public to vote for him so that he can bring the award home.
Zuke said winning the award would mean his journey has begun, saying that it would also assure him that everything has its own time.

According to the founders of Live Your Dream (LYD) SA Awards, they aim to recognise different talents in the youth of South Africa, saying that the awards deal more with young people who are still aspiring in their respective fields, so that they can be known and recognised by South Africa.
Zuke told Fever that his passion for TV started when he became a presenter at Mzansi Smart TV.

“This nomination means a lot to me, as a young media personality, I believe that everything I want to achieve is in the media industry. Winning this award would mean that I am given an opportunity to grow more. I really want to see myself on the big screen presenting big shows. This award will make me believe that I can do it. It is very difficult as an entertainer to ask each and every person whether they are impressed with the work you do and the way you do it. So the opportunity given to the public to express themselves through voting will show me exactly what they think of my presenting skills,” he said.

He added that working for Mzansi Smart TV exposed him to TV presenting, saying that he has garnered interviews with big names such as DJ Mdix.

He explained that before joining TV, he was on radio. He has worked for radio stations such as Radio Sunny South, Ugu Youth Radio and Dubane FM.

Currently studying Popular Music and Performance at the Esayidi TVET College, Zuke said he has been exposed to both the business and performance sides of music.
He said he wants to become a performer.

“I want to be comfortable enough to perform in front of big crowds, I am working as a master of ceremonies for different functions such as weddings and other types of entertainment. Currently, I am working on a song titled, ‘I Believe’ with Skeyes. I am hoping it will be released before the end of the year. My goals include completing my studies and getting into the music industry. I am also looking for an internship that will allow me to be in the music industry. It is very difficult to grow in music on the South Coast. I hope to one day expose local artists to organisations such as the South African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) so that local artists can protect their music, get and enjoy royalties,” he said, adding that his biggest goal in his career is being recognised by bigger television channels.

Zuke said people can vote for him by SMSing LYD303 to 33282.
