Bargain Wholesalers recognises women employees

The idea for the event came from mother and daughter, Raiza and Juwairiya Moosa.

In observing Women’s Month, Bargain Wholesalers recently hosted a Women’s Day event at its newly built distribution centre in Marburg for over 60 ladies employed by the company.

The idea for the event came from mother and daughter, Raiza and Juwairiya Moosa.
Raiza told Fever that with Bargain Wholesalers being nearly 60 years old, she thought it was time for women in the company to be recognised.

She explained that when she first joined the Bargain Wholesalers family, she did not see the women’s potential.
She said some women have worked for the company for over 30 years while others are still new.

“I wanted the ladies to know that my husband, Yusuf Moosa is of the mindset that women can be leaders after he took over the business from his father. We want women to know that they can reach for the stars,” she said.

She added that for the Women’s Day event she wanted female employees to talk and to get to know each other, as they might work in different departments.
Raiza said each woman was given the microphone for 30 secs to say something about themselves.

“It was an icebreaker with everyone getting to know each other in the new facility and new environment,” she said, adding that the aim of the event was achieved.

She said they have a WhatsApp group for the ladies, adding that after the event the group was buzzing with messages expressing how much fun they had.

“The ladies were expressing how they have worked for the company for years and never once felt appreciated like they did on the day. It was a turning point for them and us. We are glad that the event served its purpose,” she said.
