Mqadi resigns as RNM mayor

This was confirmed during an ordinary Ray Nkonyeni Municipality Council meeting held on Tuesday this week at the Ray Nkonyeni Municipal Council chambers.

Sikhumbuzo Isaac Mqadi recently resigned as the mayor of Ray Nkonyeni Municipality.
Mqadi also resigned as a councillor representative for Ray Nkonyeni Municipality in Ugu District Municipality.
This was confirmed during an ordinary Ray Nkonyeni Municipality Council meeting held on Tuesday this week at the Ray Nkonyeni Municipal Council chambers.

A few weeks ago, the Fever reported that the ANC Tolomane Mnyayiza Region confirmed that the former RNM mayor, Mqadi, will soon resign and be sworn in as the new mayor of Ugu District Municipality.
The position of mayor at Ugu became vacant after the death of former mayor, Phumlile Mthiyane, earlier this year.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Mqadi will be sworn in today (Thursday), while other reports suggest that the position of mayor in RNM could possibly be filled by either the current RNM deputy mayor, Sibusiso Godfrey Shange, or the current RNM speaker of council, Zodwa Mzindle.

Aside from being RNM mayor, Mqadi’s political and administrative career includes working alongside Ravi Pillay while Pillay was still the KZN MEC for Human Settlements.
