Lad joins Durban soccer academy

Andile Mncwabe's love for soccer started while he was still at Hlanganani Preparatory School.

Gamalakhe’s Andile Mncwabe (16) has joined the KZN Future Stars Soccer Academy in Durban.
According to Andile’s mom, Nokwanda Mncwabe, he joined the academy after he succeeded in trials hosted by the soccer academy.

Mncwabe said Andile’s love for soccer started while he was still very young, saying that she first noticed his love for the game while he was still at Hlanganani Preparatory School.

“He now lives in Durban and is in Grade 9. I decided to let him follow this dream because I saw his talent, his commitment, and the love he has for the game. There were times when we were fighting a lot about him going to the soccer academy and I told him that he is still too young live in Durban without my guidance all because of soccer. After that, things started being sour at home, he was crying all the time begging me to send him to the academy. I saw how he used to leave his friends while they were playing and he would go to soccer training, I know he was determined so I let him go,” she said, adding that all she wants is for her son’s wishes to come true,” said Mncwabe.

She added: “Yes, when it comes to sports you can never guarantee that your child will succeed but we trust in God, and whether or not Andile becomes successful in soccer, I will support him in whatever he aspires to be.”
According to the Looking For Soccer organisation, a soccer academy is a training scheme in which professional soccer clubs scout young soccer players and help them progress and develop.
