Sheppie Hawks recover heroin worth R120 000

The Hawks members from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Investigation working together with Crime Intelligence and Durban Metro Police Drug Team arrested a 37-year-old suspect for dealing in drugs.

Heroin capsules worth approximately R120 000 were recently seized by Hawks members from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Investigation working together with Crime Intelligence and Durban Metro Police Drug Team recently.

Hawks spokesperson, Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo, said the Hawks members from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Investigation along with Crime Intelligence and Durban Metro Police Drug Team arrested a 37-year-old suspect for dealing in drugs.

“Members received information about a suspect who was transporting drugs from Chatsworth to Port Shepstone on the South Coast. An intelligence-driven operation was conducted and the said vehicle was intercepted near Umlazi. A search was conducted and members found heroin capsules to a street value of approximately R120 000,” said Mhlongo, adding that the suspect was subsequently arrested and charged for dealing in drugs.

Mhlongo added that the suspect recently appeared in the Umlazi Magistrate’s Court, adding that Asset Forfeiture Investigation will apply for a preservation order to forfeit the vehicle that was used in the commission of crime.
