Cash prizes for Umzumbe’s top 2022 matric achievers

The awards are held annually to crown the top 10 achievers in Umzumbe who excelled in the NSC exams.

Top achievers in the 2022 National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams under Umzumbe Municipality were recently rewarded for their hard work.

The municipality through its Youth Development Office recently hosted the Matric High Achievers Awards Ceremony at the Esibanini Community Hall in Ward 10.

Umzumbe municipal spokesperson, Sabelo Ncwane said the awards are held annually to crown the top 10 achievers in Umzumbe who excelled in the NSC exams.

The mayor of Umzumbe Municipality said: “We beam with such pride as the class of 2022 worked extra hard in achieving these excellent results surpassing our expectations. As Umzumbe council and community at large, we need to continuously encourage our kids to aspire for greatness through education.”

The top achievers are Mukela Dlamini (first place) of Bhekameva High School who received R10 000 from the municipality.
Ntando Lushaba (second place) of Mqhakama High School received R7 000.
Anelisa Mafi (third place) of Buhlebethu High School bagged R6 000 from the municipality

Also, Xolile Mchunu (fourth place) of Mqhakama High School received R3 000, Bukeka Ncama (fifth place) of Buhlebethu High School received R3 000, Sphephelo Shinga (sixth place) of KwaFica High School also got R3 000, Kuhle Mnyadi (seventh place) of KwaFica High School also bagged R3 000, Siyabonga Ngcece (eighth place) of Bhekameva High School received R 3 000.
Nqobile Madlala (ninth place) of Luthuli High School also got R3 000 and Langelihle Mchunu of Mtwalume High School bagged R3 000.

The municipality said apart from receiving a cash prize aimed at easing the financial burden on parents in preparation for tertiary needs, the top 10 pupils also received a Vodacom hamper, trophy and certificate.
