Drugs worth 90k confiscated in Margate

Three suspects recently appeared in court on charges of possession of drugs and dealing in drugs.

The Margate SAPS Drug Task team recently recovered a plastic bag containing crystal meth valued at R91 600 and eight plastic bags containing cocaine and methcathinone (Cat) to the value of R8 600.

Margate police spokesperson, Sergeant Sibu Ncane said as the police members were reporting off duty, reliable information led them to a residence in Seaslopes, Uvongo where two foreign nationals, aged 35 and 36 years were arrested.

“A plastic bag containing crystal meth valued at R91 600 and eight plastic bags containing cocaine and methcathinone (Cat) to the value of R8 600 was recovered. The suspects recently appeared in court on charges of possession of drugs and dealing in drugs,” said Ncane, adding that the Margate SAPS Drug Task team conducts regular stop and search operations and on Friday, November 18, a 41-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of 15 heroin capsules.

The third man also appeared in court on a similar charge.
Ugu District Commissioner, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele said she was pleased with the arrests and recovery, adding that she warns drug dealers that SAPS is resolute in targeting the drug trade within the district.
