Track Torque: Max does it in front of home crowd

It was an exciting race with a lot of changing positions at this difficult-to-pass circuit, so we all got our money's worth in this winds of change race.

Max Verstappen was on top form at Zandvoort for the Dutch Grand Prix last weekend and did the honours for his fellow Dutchmen.

It was a windy day amongst the sand dunes and it was not only the sand and the flares that caused all the havoc.

There were a number of incidents just after the start, and again late in the race, which involved the safety car.

This turned everyone’s strategy upside down.

At one stage it was looking very good for Lewis Hamilton, in a much improved Mercedes, to win the race but then the wind turned and the fortunes went back Verstappen’s way.

He won by a very comfortable margin from George Russell in the second Merc, who also drove a fantastic race.

Charles le Clerc, in his Ferrari, made a late comeback to beat Hamilton to a podium position in third place.

Poor Hamilton came home out of luck and very disappointed in fourth place.

The other Red Bull, driven by Sergio Perez, came in fifth, followed by a very hard-charging Fernando Alonso, who really worked hard to get his sixth position.

Fernando really deserves a better car and we would then see the multiple world champion back at the front.

Lando Norris, in the Mclaren Mercedes, drove well but was a little disappointed to fall back, after an excellent first section, to seventh position in the end.

Similarly, Carlos Sainz had mixed fortunes and could only make it to eighth place in the second Ferrari.

Esteban Ocon came ninth after a good drive but his three positions back from his teammate show just how well Alonso drove.

The British racing green Aston Martins, driven by Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll, looked much better this time around, but Stroll could only manage one point in tenth place, while his team mate fell back to 14th position.

It was an exciting race with a lot of changing positions at this difficult-to-pass circuit, so we all got our money’s worth in this winds of change race.
